Bedazzled by videos of reverse-glass gilding, a traditional craft method of producing super shiny pieces of artwork, I set about working out how to make them myself. Unable to fund formal tuition, I’ve worked hard in my shed, experimenting with techniques to create affordable art. I’ve spent long nights and frustrating days getting every stroke of paint and leaf of gold, silver, and copper just right, to produce custom glass designs that I’m proud of.

Reluctant to use real gold while mastering the technique, I created most of these affordable art pieces with another type of pressed metal leaf. Although it still looks lovely, it doesn’t provide the same smooth, perfect shine that you get from real gold and silver, which is often sought after in custom glass designs.
